John Reilly was a gentleman. He was humble, gregarious, and always a pleasure to be around. Above all John was a remarkable songwriter and musician. Music was the guiding force of John's life, from the first time he picked up the guitar in 1963 to his last recording session ten days before he passed away in June 2009. His devotion to music serves as an example to scores of musicians like myself. In a way he was our guru, a musician's musician, a spiritual leader who made us dance, laugh, cry, and revel in the power of song. Westward Wind is the country record John wanted to make before he passed away. He gave me a list of songs he wanted mixed and mastered for release. Westward Wind was his most urgent project. I know these songs capture John's life and spirit, and serves as a parting message for us. For what music is worth, this recording is a will and testament to John's love and the power that lies within. -Terry Cuddy.
