A few years ago, a duo called Simeon and John recorded an album called Impressions; years before that, guitarist John Williams recorded Bridges. Both these albums featured classical instruments, playing classical music, but the music was orchestrated and arranged, so as to make the music more appealing to the ear. Fantasia is one of these albums, featuring the classical guitar, sometimes performing music that was originally composed for other instruments - the type of recording often heard on Classic FM (well we can always hope). A diverse selection is presented here, from the at times frantic Concerto in D by GP Telemann, to the mellow, sonorous chords of Erik Satie's 3 Gymnopedies. (In Gym 4, I have attempted to imitate his style, with music which seems not to have a start or an end). Funeral March of a Marionette is performed with a sense of humour, as I could only think of Alfred Hitchcock while playing it! Hope you enjoy listening.
