Recollections of Maybeville
Born and raised in Jersey City, N.J., Joe Pagetta is a performing singer-songwriter who currently resides in Nashville, TN. Before his move to Music City at the end of 1998, the 28-year-old Pagetta was a frequent performer at such New York City venues as the Bitter End, The Baggot Inn, Cb's Gallery, Downtime and in New Jersey at Maxwells in Hoboken and the Saint in Asbury Park. He has been a featured artist on WDHA's Homegrown Spotlight in New Jersey, has performed in front of thousands at the Greenwich Village Heritage Festival and has opened for the Vigilantes of Love, both in New Jersey and Nashville, and Buddy Cage of New Riders of the Purple Sage fame. His early work was praised in such outlets as Jersey Beat, The Jersey Journal, CMJ New Music Report, which drew comparisons to Leonard Cohen, Mark Eitzel and the late Skip Spence, and the Aquarian Weekly, which pegged a young Bob Dylan as an obvious influence. Documentation of studio sessions between 1996-1998 can be heard on the 1999 E.P. Recollections of Maybeville, mastered in Nashville and released on Pagetta's own imprint, Fully Dressed Records. The CD is an intensely personal collection of six mostly-acoustic songs, exploring faith, love, relationships and personal growth.
