Live at the Barking Dog
You want something to brighten your day and lift your mood, every time? This record really delivers the goods. Get down with the Joe Chaplain Band Live at the Barking Dog! From the opening rocker 'Night Flight' the band revs up, taxis down the runway, and takes you for a sweet, exciting ride. This is rock'n' roll at it's best! Next up 'You Are The One' brings shades of Kinks and Zombies into the 21st century with a flat out head banger finish. But hang on - 'Blue Jeans' kicks in and with it's great guitar hook and says 'c'mon baby, let's dance!' Joe's songwriting has kicked up several notches on this set, and the band knows it and digs it, too. Chuck Walter (drums) and Ron Leigh (bass) provide a powerhouse rhythm section propelled by Joe's rhythm guitar. When you add Keith Ridenhour's sweet sax to the tasty rhythm guitar phrasing you'd swear there's a whole horn section blowing! Up next 'Desert Wonderland' is a sweet ballad with a great message and a soothing hook that's oh so easy on the ears. A great breather leading up to 'Keep On Walkin',' a real deep rhtyhm and blues kicker with creamy slide guitar and wailing sax solo, and great vocals that recall Lou Reed and Dire Straits. But that's not all - next up is the classic rocker 'Around Every Corner' with an arrangement so smokin' you want to hear it again and again. Then it's off into a breeze of delight on the bouyant and jazzy 'Winter Come.' The live set is rounded out nicely with the athem 'War Is Over,' a gorgeous and poingant reminder of our times, great instrumentation with the electric 12 string, sax, jazz bass and brush drums. The Joe Chaplain band is clearly on it way to makin' some rock history. Listnen and find out why!
