Jim grew up playing in local bands on Long Island. In his senior of high school he joined the legendary Long Island band,'the Good Rats'. ' I was 18 or 19 when we recorded the first album. The cover was a big white rat with the band hanging off the tail! It was a great experience. After the rats, I toured with Bobby Vee, Buzzy Linhart, Tommy James, and played in some great L.I.bands. Jim has scored and performed in several feature films and has played on stage or albums with everyone from James Taylor to Johnny Winter.' I guess my favorite project was a movie I did in 1986. It was a teen rock and roll film called 'joey'. All of these monster groups from the sixties like, the Elegants, Ad Libs, Vito and the Salutaions, were in the film. Now these were the groups I listened to when I was like 10 or 12 years old. They were my Idols! So, to get the live performances for the film, I had to take each group into the studio and record their hit song! It was unreal. I mean i've got a full band, I'm playing piano and the Silhouetts are singing 'Get A Job'. heaven! I also recorded and sang a cover of 'I'm a Believer', the Neal Diamond tune for the Coen brothers film Blood Simple. That was fun. For the last ten years or so it's really been all about the studio for me. I love writing and producing. The songs on my new album 'Heartbreaker', are a mix of rockers, and big ballads with some R&B thrown in for good measure. Because of the digital recording world, I can try so many things and get the sounds I really want. It's amazing! This album was really fun to make.
