Three Worlds: Songs Inspired By Africa
Some of the songs actually came while there, and others we finished upon our return. Some of the songs are co-writes between Jesse and I. Making this album was an amazing experience and I'm really excited about how God is going to use it. Except for the East African praise tunes, we purposely tried not to use overtly Christian vocabulary (though very Christian in spirit), as this album has a humanitarian appeal that will reach a broad audience. Some tidbits about the songs I posted: 'Three Worlds': this was a co-write with Jesse, and has a very challenging message about not only living in 'your world' and 'my world' but also the 'third world' where people suffer. It's a world we often don't pay attention to. Check out the anthem feel at the end of the song. The choir includes my daughters Grace and Joye. 'Angel': This song came to me on the plane returning home from Uganda. It is a song I wrote for my Ugandan daughter Susan, who was abandoned by her father when she converted to Christ. My family has embraced her as our own. After the Lord spoke to me to 'love her like you love your own daughters' in Kampala, I cried for almost two weeks straight! 'Upendo': a traditional Swahili praise song. My daughters Grace, Joye, and Essie are in the 'shout choir'. Hope the music blesses you!
