Message Received Written by Jeremy Heiden I showed you all the signs, don't say I left you behind No one hears the sound until the willow hits the ground Message Received No one seems to know, the pain they never show Message received Beyond all they can bare, thinking this will make you care Message received Things that fortune brings, can't take away the sting Message received Message received Why does no one hear the sound until the willow hits the ground (Chorus) I showed you all the signs Don't say I left you behind You wouldn't hear the call Now you live to hear the fall You turned your back on me The part you never chose to see How could you decide to run Now it cannot be undone No one hears the sound, before the will hits the ground Message received After the point of no return, will your lessons be learned Message received Do you hear me know, can you live with it somehow Message received Is it so hard to believe what it took for you to see Message received Everything you could have said would have changed what you regret Message received Why does no one hear the sound until the willow hits the ground (Chorus) (spoken) : At the burning of the bridge, did you think that I should forgive? The time was never right, so I finally left the fight. No one hear the sound, until the willow hits the ground (Chorus) No it cannot be undone No it cannot be undone I showed you all the signs, don't say I left you I originally started work on this song in February of 2008 with Angela Lashley. We have been friends since 1999, when I recorded and produced the original demo recording of her first album 'Suffer the Martyrs'. Since that time, we have worked together on many projects, including the times she has worked with my label Causing Change Music LLC. I have been her exclusive graphic design artist since. Angela is a talented story-song composer, and possesses a unique piano style that I greatly admire. This made her a perfect choice to help me with one of my personal projects. This song is the most heartfelt song I have written to date. There was so much to say with "Message Received". The original lyric set I wrote was 3 pages long, way too long for a pop song. Pop is probably the greatest challenge I have ever taken on. It seems so simple, verse-chorus-bridge-chorus-verse-chorus, simple standard structure, but it has always been a challenge for me. Pop is so repetitive; it can be a nightmare for a long winded storyteller like me. The hooks in pop have to be awesome to withstand such repetition and still hold the audience. I have never been a fan of the "bridge" in my personal music; something about it never seems to fit my style. That is where Angela's talents came into play. This song was written as a duet if you can believe it, first and second person with a back and forth dialog (of 3 pages, LOL) that needed to, not only fit a radio format length but still needed to retain the original message. We decided to go first person and have the vocal be the main character. I think we captured the original feel of the song throughout the remix sessions. My personal favorite, the "Slowdown Extended" came out exactly as I hoped. The album version was the first mix we made and is why I choose that for the album. This song was so long time wise, we had to cut it down for the radio the best we could. Two radio versions were made, the "Original Radio Edit" and the "Radio Chorus Edit", although shorter in length, still capture the feel of the song. I hope you love 'Message Received' as much as I do. I am going to keep the original intentions of this deeply personal song a bit of a mystery. I know you will make this song yours, which has been my greatest wish for all my music. My music is not only my way of relieving stress and expressing my emotions, but sharing a piece of myself with you. I hope you will continue to share your thoughts and express what my music means to you.
