Jared Cohen was born in 1984 in Southern California and spent the next 22 years sheltered by it. Raised on a healthy dose of classic rock and folk, he dreamed of making music from a very young age. After receiving an electric guitar for his 13th birthday, he taught himself to play and started writing music. He hasn't paused since. As he grew older, new styles of music made their way onto his plate. Punk, indie rock, metal, classical... He heard something in each that was to be appreciated and somehow managed to take elements from all of them to form a unique style. After playing with several bands as a teenager, Jared decided to start performing on his own in his late teens. Productive songwriting allowed him to self-record and self-release 7 albums in a 6 year span. Jared moved to San Francisco in 2006 and has called it home ever since. While studying law full-time, he has found the time to form a new band, Bright Blues, and to continue writing and performing as concept: bravery. In 2009 he released The Trouble With Pretending, and a companion EP of songs not included on the record, titled Six Mysteries. Jared has since dropped the name 'concept: bravery' choosing to perform under his own name and released the Continental Drift EP in 2010.
