Jan Hammond is an Ohio-based mountain dulcimer player and singer/songwriter. She has numerous awards from dulcimer competitions, at the local, state, regional and national level of the United States. In 2005, she was a top five finalist at the national competition in Winfield, KS. She also placed first at the Kentucky State Mountain Dulcimer Championship in 2005 and 2006. In June of 2008, she placed first at the Mid-Eastern Regional Competition for an unprecedented forth time. Jan placed third at the National Mountain Dulcimer Championship in Winfield, KS later that same year. Jan is proud to release her fourth solo CD entitled "Connected" and it features a host of special guest artists, including the project producer Michael Grady on guitars, bass, percussion, vocals, banjo, wooden flute and even a trombone. Other contributing musicians and singers include, Charlie Koester (guitar & vocal), Heather Malyuk (fiddle), Karen McCurdy (flute), Carolyn Rames (vocals), Bernadette Salley (keyboard), Howard Sayre (guitar), Tom Shurr (bowed bass & vocal) and Tammy Tarleton (vocals). All but one track on this CD utilizes the mountain dulcimer in the arrangements. Unlike Jan's previous release of "In My Next Life," which was an all dulcimer---all instrumental project, "Connected" is a lyric-driven recording of originals tunes, nine of which were co-written by Paul Conrad.
