What Could It Be
J'Wan Yvette began singing at the age of 3 and writing songs and poetry by the age of 5. Growing up, she enjoyed singing in her elementary school chorus and by her teens she formed an R&B group called Diamond is Forever. During her teens she enjoyed performing with her group as well as developing her talent with the Craig Memorial Community Church Youth Chorale. After a move, J'Wan went on to perform with notable all-girl bands Genuine and Royalty. But she didn't stray from her gospel roots, and became a part of the Abyssinia Baptist Church's Davis Choral Ensemble. When J'Wan had her daughter in February of 2000, she took a break from the music industry. Not happy with the regular 9 to 5 scene she returned to the music industry in 2004, forming an independent label called JYMstone Entertainment.
