The Tramma Facchini Duo ... celebrate! This our third CD marks the anniversary of our first 10 years of artistic collaboration which initiated in 1999, with a turning point in 2000 when we had a wonderful musical experience at the Banff Centre (Canada), during which we played the G major op. 78 Sonata by Brahms, (together with the Sonata in D minor by Schumann). Following years of hard work and study, we believe this is the right time to record this intense, delicate and sublime work. All this, thanks to the valuable advice that we received, during our staying at the Banff Centre from two wonderful musicians: the violinist Lorand Fenyves and the pianist Bernardine Blaha. Advice that has helped us grow, artistically, as years go by. Since the theme of this CD is about a 'birth', we decided to include one of the three Sonatas by Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, to commemorate the bicentenary of his birth. The choice fell on the Sonata in F major, composed in 1838 and rediscovered by Yehudi Menuhin, where he reached his full compositional maturity, in our opinion. Finally, we have inserted one of the cornerstones of the violin literature, the famous 'Chaconne' by J.S.Bach, an original version with piano accompaniment composed by Mendelssohn, the musician to whom we owe so much in rediscovery of the magnificent Bach's works. This Bach-Mendelssohn combination seemed to us a marvellous choice, hoping it may interest the music enthusiasts and as, so far, there are no other recordings of this particular arrangement. As far as the choice of the recording venue, we were kindly granted the beautiful Sala Accademica of the "S.Cecilia' Conservatory of Rome, by the Director Edda Silvestri. As Duo Tramma Facchini, we concluded the Chamber Music course in 2005 with distinction and honours.
