Two lifelong friends Eric Ferguson and Ron Lucker formed The Hard back in the mid 1980's. Eric and Ron were big fans of the music on LA radio's KROQ and were influenced by The Jam, X, Violent Fems and The Plimsouls. When they first started the band, they had lofty ambitions but no singer and a drummer whose musical tastes were more Jazz then Rock. Their very first show was a Mormon dance in which the Pastor had to be assured that they did not use profanity or do anything vulgar. Armed with the six songs they "kind of" knew and a cover of Twist and Shout, The Hard was born. Throughout the 80's the band gained popularity in the LA and Orange counties by playing high energy and original "Power Wave" music. When the decade of the 90's arrived, the founding members put the band on "hiatus" and went on to get married, start families and embark on other non-musical careers. Flash forward to 2009 and a chance encounter between Ron and former drummer Brad Williams. The founding members were really intrigued with reforming The Hard because they always believed that The Hard had a unique sound and image that needed to be revisited and properly documented on CD. The band kicked off a reunion tour in July of 09 and found out the old fans were still there and they were gaining new ones with every performance. The band even managed to get mentioned in the reviews of the headliners they were opening for. The "hiatus" is officially over and here it is, The Hard CD. Enjoy.
