Two. Five. Sicks.
'With their first album set to be released Saturday, members of the Grown Folks Band are ready to take their unique fusion of hip-hop, reggae, rock, jam and rap to the next level. ... The band mixes sometimes psychedelic guitars, reggae and hip-hop beats with rap and traditionally sung vocals. ... The album contains 11 tracks that fans who have seen the band live will quickly recognize. ... The debut album also features several Shoals artists including MacKay's mom and dad, former Grateful Dead vocalist Donna Jean Godchaux MacKay and San Francisco Bay area musician David MacKay, who is now the bassist for the Donna Jean Godchaux Band. Justin Holder and Josh Haselton provided drums for the band, who rely on drum machines and recorded drum tracks during their live performances. Fiddleworms Rob Malone and Clint Bailey added guitars and keys respectively, and MacKay's half-brother, Zion Godchaux of BoomBox, provided 'claps and finger snaps' on 'Layin Down.' The album art was created by Titus Busbee, Slaughter's cousin and brother of former band member Tyree Busbee. Simon created the CD package graphics.' Russ Corey Times Dailey Florence, Ala-effing-bama.
