"Let Go" was recorded in Milwaukee, Wisconsin with some of the finest musicians around. I started on this project about two years ago and the first order of business was writing the songs. The first song for the project was 'I'm Not Afraid.' Actually the working title that I chose for the song was 'I Trust You With My Heart,' which seemed way too long. Plus, once the tone of the CD was set as the other songs came to life, 'I'm Not Afraid' seemed like the perfect song title. 'So Much More' and 'Time To Say Goodbye' were written and recorded over 10 years ago and previously released as a 'single' for this CD back in 2008. I didn't realize the CD would take as long as it did to get released, otherwise I would have waited to put these songs out there to the world. Once the songs were written I collaborated with one of the best keyboard players I know, Scott Currier, to work on the arrangements. Much of the musical direction of the songs were his genius ideas. What springs to mind is doing the slow ending on 'You Made Me,' which starts out with a Bossa feel and then ends with just the keyboard and vocal and is drenched in emotion. Another wonderful idea happens on 'Life Lessons.' It was evident when I wrote this song that it would be perfect to close out the CD. Then Scott suggested we give it a big finish as if we were ending a show and leading up to the rock star 'Thank you, Goodnight!' I honestly hear those words in my head every time I play that song ... LOL! This project was a true labor or love and not without it's problems, but I'm proud of how it sounds and honored to present it to you as the best that I have to offer ... right now, at least :)! In a nutshell, 'Let Go' is a musical journey through love, loss and recovery. I wrote this CD on the heels of a devastating breakup and I saw writing it as a chance to pour out everything I was feeling as I travelled the road to healing. Often pain and suffering causes us to grow, and my growth as an artist and writer saturates each song. I wrote from a deeply personal place and whether you're already a fan or new to my music, you will feel like you've just had an intimate face-to-face conversation with me whenever you play this CD. I hope that will be often! Thanks for stopping buy and I really appreciate your support of my music. Love, Glo! P.S. The guy I broke, Neal Austin, is now my husband. After having been broken up for four years, he came back into my life and proposed. The song, "Let Go & Let God," was written about our breakup and the grieving process I was going through, and the awesome thing is that by the time I was recording the song in the studio, Neal and I were engaged.
