Product notities

Ginger Binge is a musical collaboration of mostly Midwestern folk. At the center of the band is Bob Spoerl. Born with red hair, Bob gladly sprouts carrot-colored locks. The rest of the band members have been baptized into the fire hair culture. Bob started playing bass guitar in the band 'Flashpoint' with Ryan Campbell on drums and Mike Nickerson on guitar in high school. This was in Milwaukee, a long, long time ago, way back in 2001. The band added guitar guru Andy 'Fingers' Eichholz in 2004 and played around Milwaukee for several years before taking a break to pursue degrees in various places - Madison, Minnesota, Milwaukee and Chicago. The band's claim to fame: opening for Lifehouse at the June 2006 Waukesha County Fair. After years in college studying various things -- ministry, urban planning, dentistry, philosophy to name a few. The four members reunited for one more studio performance in June 2011. The fates aligned and the boys found themselves in the same city for the first time in years. Ginger Binge would not be possible without the help of so many other people. Like the fellas from Flashpoint, especially Mike. And friends from graduate school: Ben Richmond, who co-wrote and sung two songs on Ginger Binge & Friends, 'Gypsy Baby,' and 'Ice Queen.' And Brian Anderson. He shreds drums like King Kong, and has been known to play full shows sitting atop a suitcase. And then there's Virginia Brown, the female voice you hear on several songs. She sings like an angel. And let's not forget Dwayne Laughlin, piano player extraordinaire. Dwayne plunks the keys on 'Lincoln and Lucy,' and holds down the electric organ on 'Eddie.' Ginger Binge & Friends would not be possible without the engineering support of friends at Handwritten Recording, a studio on Chicago's North Side. The owners of that studio, the Riggs brothers, essentially produced the album. They also let the band drink beer in the studio, which made recording vocals less awkward. Mike Cabellon (check out his work) designed the album cover. He's a rising star in graphic design, plus he's funny --- seriously he does stand-up. Uncle Ted, thanks too. Sorry that 'Pillowcase' didn't make it on the first (of many?) Ginger albums. And finally, finally. This album would not have been possible without the support of Lady De. She's the ear always willing to listen to Bob's songs -- she shines like neon.
