Ghostdriver are based in the UK and this is the debut album 'Milestones'. It is difficult to categorise into a particular style or genre as the songs presented here offer an eclectic mix to say the least. From the opening rock strains of 'What she Said' you would be thinking this is going to be an out an out rock album but when the reverb drenched 'Magic Carpet' introduces itself the sun kissed beaches of California beckon and confirms that the nature of this beast cannot be defined, this is further highlighted when the lazy slide guitar intro of the countryesque 'My Baby Knows' commences. And the rest of the album follows the same twisting path criss crossing genres with ease but still maintaining a unity and togetherness that works trememdously well. In fact there is something for everyone here, garage rock, surf, americana and a hint of Waits in the gnarly 'Cranefly Blues'. The set is closed with a simple acoustic tribute to the USAAF air crews stationed in the UK during the war years, Pin Up Queen pays homage to the brave guys and the fabulous bomber 'nose' art normally influenced by Varga. Great Stuff !
