Boyz from Da Woodz
This album takes you through every human emotion some songs will make you laugh, some cheer, some will even make you cry they were written by jack walker a man who was born dirt road poor and has struggled through life's challenges he writes about what he knows and where he lives. Born and raised in the little rural town of roopville Georgia population 250 .there is songs about hunting, fishing, god, faith, loss of love and loss of his beloved mother to cancer. You will hear the bands musical influences that range from country, rock, bluegrass, gospel and even blues.Jack says I listened to every thing growing up I am just a music lover I absorbed it all and I take a piece of it all and this is what you hear in my music,it's what I am.The band was formed a few years after high school by jack and drummer Israel tyson who also grew up in rural crossplains Georgia. Jack says me and izzy as he calls him hit it off right from the start because he was poor as I was and lived in a shack in the woods made out of shipping crates and pallets covered in roofing shingles and wood scraps heated with a wood stove no air conditioner we had redneck air conditioners window fans. Izzys first drums were coffee cans and buckets and my first guitar came from a mail order catalog it was a acoustic with the strings about a inch off the neck it was hard to play but it built my finger strength and callouses up quick. We then employed tracy hosey on bass guitar a childhood friend of jacks. Tracy hosey is one of the greatest bass players you will ever see,he can play anything from rock to country to funk, he is high energy and probably the craziest and funniest person you will ever meet .part mountain man part madman he has probably killed and ate most any thing that crawls and swims the band got it's name because he caught a live possum with his bare hands and turned it lose in the band house one night. It was a Georgia Possum and that's what we are possum's night prowlers survivors. We played as a three piece band for years with occasional guitar players coming and going till ron lands sit in with us one night, he is guitar player and steel player who has played with a lot of Nashville stars and players we couldn't believe how good he was and that he wanted to play with us, he blew us away we started recording with him right away in a home studio laying down the tracks on this CD. He brung a sound and a feel we had been searching for for years, he made us better he gave us hope that if a player of his caliber believed in us that maybe we might make it after all .Ron came from Oregon originally before moving to Georgia he jokes and says he was so poor growing up that he had to wear his sisters dress sometimes he was raised on a farm and a Indian reservation so he related to us and loved the same music as we did. It's been a incredible journey to this point to this record and we hope that the people will want to get on and ride with us and see just how much further we can take it .we love people and we hope they love us, we never take our fans for granted we have a dream and god willing and people willing we might just make it come true lots of love. Georgia Possum.
