Stairway By the Lake
George's first album. Some nice ballads and funny bad day song. Emphasis on lyrics and melody. Great guitar and keyboard tracks by John Grant and Brian Kerr! Some Song Stories: Most of these are songs written in high school and college. The ones with stories I still remember are: • VIRGINIA - I had a friend in high school who had a rough home life and she would escape to a make believe world in her mind which she called Virginia. I'm not sure but I think she picked the name so people wouldn't figure her out. I was amazed that she shared the story with me. I unfortunately lost track of her and she has never heard this. • SILENCE - A classic college romance break up song... • STAIRWAY BY THE LAKE - This was inspired by a trip to Geauga Lake near Cleveland with Judy. We actually sat on a small portable stairway and had a great conversation about our life to come. My dad knew I was in trouble when he heard this one... • MORE AND MORE - I wrote this the night of my first date with Judy. I couldn't sleep so I went to find a piano. • MISSIN YOU - A first attempt at country. I had fun singing the low notes. • FORGET ABOUT HER - Written for the date I took to my high school senior prom. I didn't understand girls at the time. (Still don't ...) I could not get this song out of my head, so I had to record it. • WE CAN WIN THE GAME - Written for an American Diabetes Association Black Tie Gala that was sponsored by the Baltimore Orioles. The gala was at Camden Yards. It was very cool. I sang this at the Indianapolis gala in 2002.
