Put the Big Stone Down
Geoff Bartley (1948 - ?) Geoff Bartley is a blues-, folk-, and jazz-influenced fingerstyle acoustic guitar player, singer, songwriter, and harmonica player. The folk press has called him folk music at it's best, a brilliant songwriter, a world-class guitarist, the prophet and spiritual godfather of the Boston folk scene, and a local legend, to which Mr. Bartley responds, 'Look... I really appreciate the kind words... I really do... but you hafta take these kinds of things with several large grains of salt.' Some of Mr. Bartley's songs and co-writes have been recorded by other artists in the US, Nashville, Canada, and Ireland, and some are also included in the Smithsonian Folkways Recordings of the Fast Folk Musical Magazine collection in Washington, D.C. In addition to his own live shows, Mr. Bartley plays guitar and sings harmony for topical songwriter and veteran folk entertainer, Tom Paxton. Mr. Bartley currently has nine recordings available. A new CD entitled 'A Thousand Small Hammers' is due out in October 2010. He lives in a suburb of Boston, Massachusetts.
