Gary Schmidt is a classical pianist from Canada. His performances have particularly been described as speaking straight to the heart rather than merely aiming for technical perfection. On 'La Vie en Piano' he gives us a synopsis of life through shorter musical jewels that have something to say. This recording features a diverse array of composers and include (in order of performance) J.S. Bach/Siloti, J.S. Bach, D. Scarlatti, Chopin, M. Albeniz, Prokofiev, Schumann, Villa-Lobos (9 and 10), Rachmaninoff, Prokofiev, and Schumann. Yet despite the diversity of composers the album manages to present a unified whole. Here you are invited to take another musical journey as was presented in his album of original piano meditations (Sacred Spaces) which has had a wonderful response.
