From This Fire
Bold. Original. Heavy. Melodic. Creative. Artistic. Energetic. Ambitious. These are some of the ways you could characterize the self-titled debut work by From This Fire. Built on a foundation of heavy guitar riffage and syncopated rhythms, this quartet is setting the bar pretty high with this release. Not only is the production incredible, but the CD art work is brilliant and inspiring. Straight from the gate the solo drums slap you right in the face with "Bitter Pill", an energy ramping song that has a fist pumping pace which is relentless with heavy guitar riffs, thick bass grooves, solo drum fills and just hits you from the start with a wall of sound that quickly warms you up to what From This Fire is all about. One thing that is evident about this release is the crafty way From This Fire fuses their many inspirations from Hard Rock ("With You", "Never Fade Away") to Acoustic ("Another Chance", "Solace") to Metal ("When All Is Said and Done", "I Am Crucified") to Pop Rock ("You Never Know", "Do You Know"). While this CD runs the gamut, the core sound that is FTF is immediately recognized and never lost in the mix. Lesser bands couldn't pull this fine balance off with such ease, but this is par for the coarse with FTF... it's just what they do.
