Free Noise Brigade have arrived with their self titled debut EP and the Long Island reggae/rock four-piece have launched their attack with 5 bold new originals. Lead singer and guitarist Ryan Dobby's natural and soulful vocals stand right to the forefront of each track, while lead guitarist Colin Cotter's highly expressive, meaty leads scream "rock'n'roll is back!" in the midst of each laid-back jam. At the core of this reggae/rock assault is a rock solid rhythm section consisting of bassist Mark Spizzirri and drummer Mike Maccone. Spizziri's ultra-rhythmic, grooving bass-lines create an irresistible, dance-inducing flow of movement through each track. In addition, Maccone takes the grooves to whole new levels, while kicking it in to gear when needed to create a solid wall of sound that says he knows how to rock. Songwriting duets for FNB fall to Dobby and Cotter who each bring their own, at times, vastly different influences and styles to their songs creating a contrast in sound that brings the listener to many different highs and lows throughout the album. The contrast is not only in sound and style, but in lyrics as well: Dobby's lighthearted love songs take us to the beach with the sounds of summer, while Cotter's more contemplative lyrics and intense arrangements act as a perfect counterbalance to create somewhat of a Jekyll and Hyde feel to their sound. Free Noise Brigade is totally stripped-down, straight-foward reggae; REAL guys, making REAL music. As a testament to that, the making of their debut EP was an entirely independent effort. So join the ranks and support the brigade!
