Forest & the Sea
In some ways, listening to Freddy & Francine is like listening to five bands in one. Colored with tinges of country, rock n' roll, folk, and pop (all underscored by a soulful delivery reminiscent of classic R&B), The Forest & The Sea artfully blends several genres into one cohesive sound. Powered by pitch-perfect harmonizing, The Forest & The Sea is one of those rare albums that sweeps listeners up from beginning to end with a simultaneously unique yet classic sound, which makes each of the album's twelve tracks feel like old trusted friends. Backed by Christopher Allis and John Classick, and with the addition of Mike Feldman (Keyboards/Organ), Freddy & Francine (Lee Ferris and Bianca Caruso) recorded The Forest and The Sea in just six days with producer Mike Butler (The Boxmasters, Levon Helm Band) at Big Fish Studios in Encinitas, CA. Determined to capture the honesty of their music that has become a signature element in the band's live performance, most songs on the album were recorded in only three or four takes (with a couple of tracks being completed in a single take).
