Positively Fourth Street
On the 'Positively Fourth Street' recording, the popular Fourth Street Five Jazz Band combined forces with world renown washboard player Stephen Joseph. A jazz festival director came up to Stephen and said, 'This is one you'll like! The band has good ears and broad traditional jazz knowledge - experience not to be ignored.' Stephen said at the time, 'I came, I heard and they conquered with an ensemble exceptional in today's trad bands. You know some bands instantly by their ensemble - a band that plays as a unit - the sound of an entire as one. This is one of those bands!' After an hour, Stephen sought to buy their recording only to find 'there is none!' So Stephen said, 'Do one for me!' He recorded with the band and became the 'Plus One.' Several months later, Stephen Joseph unexpectedly passed away leaving 'Positively Fourth Street' as a musical tribute to his band encouragement.
