Disappointment Is Control
'Disappointment is Control' is Formerly So's first full-length album, featuring a large variety of music spanning across the rock spectrum. This album doesn't conform to a single style of music, but instead ranges from heavier rock to alternative singer/songwriter tunes, and even includes a romantic serenade based solely around the piano. The album was recorded in two different studio sessions, both of which were engineered by Joel Pack of Aquarius Studios. (Note: Joel Pack is also commonly known as the lead vocalist and guitarist of the band Broke City) The first session took place only a couple of weeks after Brian Chamlee was introduced into the band as it's new drummer. Five songs were recorded, forming the Formerly So EP, including: Disappointment is Control; Cut Down; They Love You, They Love You Not; It's Simple, It's Over; and Hear Me Now. After the studio session, the band continued to write new songs with increasing speed, despite the fact that Jason, keyboardist in the band, had recently left for Romania to serve an LDS mission. New songs were finalized and Joel Pack was called back to record five new songs, transforming the EP into a full-length album: Unattached; For You, For Me; Silence; Shattered Sun; and Filter. The band was extremely lucky to have a very skilled graphic designer close by, as their sound technician Adam Boyd had been designing logos for the band since it began, including the current Formerly So logo that is used on the album. Adam designed the album artwork for 'Disappointment is Control,' and it looks spectacular! This album represents all of the work, energy, emotion, dedication, heart and soul of the band, as it's members have come together from various backgrounds, bringing with them their ideals and experiences to merge them into an intricate web of music expression.
