Love Heartache & Oblivion
Recorded and mixed at the Recording Room in east Vancouver, Love, Heartache & Oblivion is the first record by Canadian singer/songwriter Dave Hadgkiss, performing as Folk Thief. Using sparse instrumentation and honest, heartfelt lyrics, Love, Heartache & Oblivion is a genre defying effort. As the 'one part happy, two parts sad' recipe of the title suggests, the album is a fun, soulful and sometimes haunting collection of acoustic folk pop. Recorded and mixed at the Recording Room in east Vancouver, Love, Heartache & Vancouver artist Kelly Haigh (Ashley Park, Country Western Star) shot the cover photo to the album and also contributes beautifully layered background vocals to the songs Broken Record, Heart Beat and Breathe. Acting as co-producer and sound engineer, Mike Cashin (Western Telegraph, Michael Bublé) expertly balances the sonic elements of Love, Heartache & Oblivion, resulting in a compelling and infectious collection of songs that are complex in their simplicity.
