Lass Sein Was Ist
Audience as well as critics of FITZCARRALDO were already polarised by the distressing fragility, the inner depravity and the deep melancholy of their debut album HERBST which Fitzcarraldo have published on their own in 2007. Since then a lot has happened. FITZCARRALDO were on tour through Germany and Poland twice. They performed in front of hundreds of people on festivals but they also played in front of only two paying guests in oversized clubs or in a driving steam engine. They met unbelievable people and have made close friendships. Real life forced them to take important decisions, to change tracks and to cure rare diseases. Without a doubt, these experiences contributed to the development and the music of the band. In 2009, the guys from Aschaffenburg took a break from live performances to focus on new songs representing the experiences made during the last two years. After almost eleven months of back-breaking sessions in rehearsal rooms, time has come to record the collected material in the studio called "Tonmeisterei" in Oldenburg. Now, focus is put on the intensity of sensations and feelings in contrast to their previous album HERBST with it's rapid change of emotions. The music of FITZCARRALDO appears more mature and to the point - reduced to the essential parts but not reduced in volume and depth. Rage and rebelliousness are put under control, but have not become completely obsolete. There are flashes of optimism. Electronic beats, vocal samples with a clear message, a thunderstorm of feedback, steamroller guitar riffs, guitar plucks, changes in volume and hardly any vocals join to form a "wall of sound". The nine varied tracks on their new album "LASS SEIN WAS IST" live on their independence and their extensive possibilities of interpretation: Fireworks of pictures - a roller coaster ride of emotions. In spite of a melancholy background, the music does not drift in dark pessimism. It rather seems to say: "Leave things as they are, lean back, keep cool, but never give up!"
