His eagerness to love and explore life permeates his approach to his melodies and lyrics. ?Farrel grew up in a very musical family. Music was constantly played or sung at the Droke house in a very tiny town in Southern Oklahoma. The son of a church song-leader, he grew up singing gospel harmonies and, eventually, began to lead the singing himself. He learned to play a borrowed guitar at age 13 but waited until nearly 50 to learn to read music and study music theory. This musical education led him to realize there was a purpose and a place for those melodies floating around in his head keeping him awake at night! So, in the summer of 2008, Farrel began writing and singing his own music. ?Farrel's songs have focus and many dwell on his family experiences and growing up in Oklahoma. Some of his stories delve into complex human relationships. His skills as a songwriter have been influence by many things, such as the encouragement of singer-songwriter Johnsmith, and living a long, interesting, and creative life. Farrel draws on his many different careers and his intuitive ability to walk in the shoes of others. He loves his wife Julie and his dogs, Felix and Daisy and they love him!
