Everybody Drinks Kombucha in Hell
This album is a rock opera about prohibition, kind of. It's also about the 14th president, Franklin Pierce, who was a very bad president. He drank himself to death. This might have stemmed from the embarassment of always being known as 'The Fainting General,' after either being shot, or hitting his testicles on the pommel of his saddle (accounts vary) and falling off mid-battle. Composer/lyricist and frontlady Juliet Bennett Rylah is a classicaly trained flautist who wrote most of these songs in a hot, hot summer in a lonely apartment and then recruited four others to make these songs into the epic, vintage-style rock operas you hear here. Featured is Hugo Claudin on drums, Chris Eddy on fiddle, Angela Nielsen on keys and Greg Nielsen on bass.
