Fabulous Nu-Tones Reunion 2010
The Fabulous Nu-Tones is a group formed at Tennessee State University back-in-the-day, (1965). The group traveled and performed throughout the South playing at colleges, barmitsfas, clubs, doing radio interviews and performing shows at the home campus, Fisk, Vanderbilt and Meharry Medical Colleges. The group released their first record, "I'm Not Worthy of Your Love" and "Our Love Was Destined to Be", while students at TSU. Both songs have been resurrected and are being played in the United States and the UK. With all the rehearsals, interviews, and traveling the group still managed to get their work done and graduate. With it's style, choreography and tight harmonies, they were often compared to the Temptations. The group was described by one of the TSU band directors and arranger Mr. Danny Owens as having the vocal sounds of The Four Freshman. Lorenzo "Doc" Ferguson became a surgeon. Chuckie Burke performed with and completed albums with numerous major bands that included Isaac Hayes, Barry White, Little Milton, and many, many other vocalist and musicians throughout the US and abroad. William "Smoke" Howard still performs and just had his CD release party in the Philadelphia area. His CD along with several others can be purchased at cdbaby. William has traveled throughout the US and abroad. Arthur Henderson still performs and has a gospel CD. Arthur has an R&B project on cdbaby. He also has traveled all over the US and abroad. Stanley D. Stewart also has a CD project "Right by My Side" on cdbaby. Stanley has performed in Europe for USO shows entertaining the troops in Germany and Amsterdam. Stanley is completing his first book about his life and his family. He has a Gospel music book in process with ten gospel songs with lyrics and music. Stanley is a retired band director and coach. Arthur and William have retired as well. All three of the remaining original group members have performed with and opened up shows for scores of known artists for many years. Two of the original "Fabulous Nu-Tones" Curtis Scretchin and Thomas Holton are deceased. This past August, the remaining members of The Fabulous Nu-Tones had a reunion for the first time since the Vietnam War disrupted the group and separated them. After almost 40 years The Fabulous Nu-Tones came together in Nashville to have a "Grand Ole Time." Curtis' family, well known newspaper writer-reporter, Reginald Stuart (group manager) his wife, and the other members and their families met in Nashville to celebrate "The Fabulous Nu-Tones" reunion. Reginald is an award winning writer in the Baltimore DC area. From this reunion the CD name, "The Fabulous Nu-Tones Reunion 2010" was born. The songs were written by Stanley D. Stewart and Michael Bohannon. "Christmas Is In the Air" is about family, food and the Christ Child (the true meaning of Christmas). "You and I R Friends" is about friendships. We, "The Fabulous Nu-Tones" are true friends and family, and even though we were apart we had pure love in our hearts. The group would like to thank fans who have supported each members solo projects throughout the years, and thank you in advanced for your support of this project.
