Product notities

Angie Boissevain has lived in California for more than 50 years. A Zen priest, she heads a meditation group, Floating Zendo, in San Jose, California. She is also visiting teacher in Arcata, California; Boulder, Colorado; Taos, New Mexico; and in Austria and Switzerland. She lives in the Santa Cruz mountains. Emily Marie Bording was born in Staten Island, New York. At 17 she moved to Maui to live with Pat a Buddhist nun who lived alone in her Simple Tea House of Paia. Here she began her training in Zen mindfulness and informal Ceremonial Tea. Together, Pat & Emily shared the "way of tea" with the local children in the tea house and in the nearby forest. Emily has taught children the "way of tea" every since. She currently teaches grades first through eighth at Aptos Academy and her Uji Tipi. Emily was introduced to the shakuhachi flute in 1986 by her Healing Arts teacher Al Hiatt. It took her a whole year to produce just a single note which sounded more like a fog horn than music. Emily and Hiatt played flute together for many years and developed an improvisational style they called "Dueling Bamboos". She also received on-on-one instruction from both Nelson Lee and Jim Scott Behrands. Around the same time Emily was introduced to Angie at Jikoji Zen Center. Years later Emily received her precepts and Angie gave her a Buddhist name, Sei Sho E Shu. Angie's unequivocal teaching and clear presence continues to be a source of wisdom and wonderment. Whether you join Emily for Tea or Yoga, it won't be long before you hear the music from her shakuhachi. She also plays at special Jikoji events and private gatherings. She lives with her partner Ben in Watsonville, where they share the joys, the creativity and the challenges of raising their daughter Bonnie who is often seen climbing trees and chasing chickens throughout their lush orchards and flower gardens.
