On a Roll
Guitarist Lisa Marie Ellingsen formed her trio, The Ellingtones, in the fall of 2009, looking to combine her love of traditional American blues and early rock and roll, with her own unique singer/ songwriting talent. The Ellingtones have played a variety of gigs since their inception including bar rooms, church meetings, outdoor festivals and even an educational seminar. Their first album 'On a Roll' was released in September 2010. Lisa's influences are Big Bill Broonzy, Elvis Presley, Bessie Smith, Doc Watson, Hank Williams, Etta James, Wanda Jackson, Sister Rosetta Tharpre and a host of other American blues and country icons. Ellingsen combines her red hot, combustible guitar playing with her ethereal, feminine vocals. Lisa Marie has been playing guitar since she was 15 years old. She has studied relentlessly working to make her mark in a largely male dominated field. She has studied with New Orleans guitar great Cranston Clements, and local guitar extraordinaire Jim Armenti (Lonesome Brothers). Ellingsen has played in a number of bands over the years and as a solo artist in San Diego, New Orleans, Austin, and now resides in Western Massachusetts.
