Raven & the Bluebird
Sent by his mother for a loaf of bread to a little bar/grocery store/restaurant on a lake in Wisconsin, Egon Danielson was set on his course for life. The only way to get to the store was to pass through the bar, in front of the wooden stage. It was Saturday night and the band was in full swing, dressed in matching red western suits with those cool shiny black pointy-toed boots. The songs were about love lost, love found, and the troubles of ordinary folk. The singer wasn't just singing...he was laying his bleeding heart on the stage. By the time the barmaid shooed the little boy out of the bar, it was too late. He spent the next two hours peering through the window, past the neon beer sign, at his future. Produced by multi instrumentalist Andy Dee, 'Raven and the Bluebird' is a collection of songs about life as seen through the eyes of a man who's been there and back. These songs were almost entirely recorded in home studios and back rooms in Kentucky and Minnesota with the help of some of the best musicians anywhere, including Phil Solem of The Rembrandts, Michael Bland of Prince's New Power Generation and Soul Asylum, and John Ely of Asleep at the Wheel.
