Dual Rhythm - BIG BAND We dedicate this collaboration to the music. Dual Rhythm consists of Ernest 'Ebongo' Bland (percussion and vocals) and Paul Rosenberg (keyboards). We perform a broad array of music styles from R&B to Jazz to Afro Cuban and Latin Jazz. Audience members often comment that we sound like a much larger band than a duo, and on Big Band (our second CD) we embraced this theme on visually (on the cover) and musically by inviting utilizing some of Washington DC's most talented musicians to make guest appearances. We feel honored that they have helped us express our musical style through their interpretations. Dual Rhythm is a product of various crossroads; personalities, musical interests, musicians, and life experiences. We are hopeful that one's ears are as interested in the product as we are eager to have it produced and heard. We are proud to present eight originals and have adapted four additional songs to our unique style. Our original release is self titled Dual Rhythm; it was debuted in December of 2008 and includes five (5) originals and seven cover selections. Dual Rhythm members met in the late 1990s and have played in a variety of Latin, African, and jazz bands since. Dual Rhythm is a highly percussive and rhythmic duo using Latin, jazz, and rhythm-and-blues idioms in a unique eclectic format. Ebongo plays percussion and sings and Paul plays keyboards. We are occasionally assisted by a helpful drum machine that never talks back and is always on time. Influences Many of our concept start with a jazz standard played over an Afro-Cuban beat. Influences for the duo include Dizzy Gillespie, Jerry Gonzalez, Mongo Santamaria, Duke Ellington, Chick Corea, Ray Charles, Otis Redding, Stevie Wonder, Tito Puente and many others.
