Trader John's Crawfish Soiree
A great boogie and blues pianist with a growl of a voice, his most enduring achievements have fused New Orleans R&B, rock and Mardi Gras craziness to come up with his own brand of "Voodoo" music. He's also enjoyable when sticking to purely traditional forms of Blues and R&B. This double CD collection includes versions of songs which Dr John chose for his 1965 debut in Los Angeles - the album ZU ZU MAN. Most of the music on that album was Dr John in boogie woogie, R&B mode nit "Zu Zu Man" - a version of which is included here - augurs the voodoo feel and textures of his 1968 cult classic GRIS GRIS album.
