Doubledouble is a bare-bones rock duo based in San Francisco, with an extensive catalogue of original songs that seldom exceed 2 minutes. Building on the indie foundation of pioneers like the Pixies and Operation Ivy, Josh Goldberger (vocals/guitar) and Jesse Morris (drums/trumpet/keys) craft tight songs with a well-rounded sound, mixing punk energy with rhythms ranging from reggae and funk to dance and afrobeat. In September of 2008 the band began passing out it's first limited-release EP, "Loud!Loud!" Recorded, mixed and mastered by Morris on his Roland 2480 in the band's rehearsal space over the course of 2 months, the tracks were serialized on it's Myspace page, with a new song debuting each week for 10 consecutive weeks. The break-neck pace of writing and recording helped the duo hone their performance chops, which paid dividends once they began performing in front of live audiences in the fall of 2008. A string of well-attended shows in San Francisco at the Rockit Room, the Retox and O'Neill's Irish Pub have been augmented by more intimate performances at various house parties and an impromptu gig at Dolores Park on a sunny Saturday in May 2009. From the start, their quick and catchy arrangements have kept crowds engaged and eager for more. Having built up a backlog of new material, Doubledouble took one week in March 2009 to record their second EP, "SPRNG BRKRZ." Using the same DIY techniques perfected the previous summer, the duo laid down 12 new songs in a matter of days. An edgier and more aggressive offering than "Loud!Loud!," the new EP was officially released at Doubledouble's headlining show at the Hotel Utah in San Francisco on Saturday, July 25th.
