Art of the Groove
Recorded at SoundHouse Recording; the album was written, arranged, engineered, and produced by Dorian Rusher. It was mastered by the legendary Randy Kling at Dismastering-discmastering.net. : When Dorian Rusher (guitarist), Rob Hatfield (bassist) and Matt Swigert (drumist??) linked up at SoundHouse Recording in Kansas City, Mo. their goal was to create a work that could stand on it's own musically-with no vocals and lyrics-which made a cool album to listen to, but not overproduced rendering it impossible to recreate or unrecognizable in a live situation. Dorian was also very mindful to showcase the entire group's abilities instead of making the standard 'guitar album'. DORIAN:'I love all the instrumental guitar albums by all the Greats..but I feel our genre gets ignored a lot by those who THINK it's just for musicians or a platform for guitarists to blaze endlessly over some double kick and a few chord changes. I wanted something even the 'common' music listener could be accessible to. I really feel that if you can't hum it...it's not a song.' It is of some note that there was no eye contact involved in the writing, rehearsal, or recording of this piece. The members relied on certain phrases and passages to guide them in and out of the curves and changes in the music.
