Soundscapes of the Gulf of Mexico
I only want your ears and an active imagination. Actually, my music is a painting for the ears. Just let the use of repeated rhythms or instrumental sounds be labled as characters, to tell the story, as identified by the song titles. When I first heard about the oil spill, I was in shock! I went into the studio to try and capture the way I felt as a child about floating in the crystal, swelling waves of the Gulf of Mexico. My ears were below the water but, my eyes could still enjoy the sun and sky above the water. I think this feeling is captured in my first soundscape 'Ode to the Gulf ' . Throughout the following months, as the oil poured into this beautiful body of water, nothing was done to stop the damage to our 'paradise'. White sand, birds of grace and compelling beauty, fish and mammals so bountious they could be taken forgrated, were now changed by man's negligence and greed. Have Mercy on us all!
