Some Band from Sandy
Inspired by classic artists like The Beatles and influenced by various types of music including Jazz, Blues, and Reggae, this band brings to the table a smooth positive vibe along with insightful lyrics and beautiful harmonies. Your mind will immediately be brought to a beach in southern California where the sun is shining, the breeze is blowing, and all your cares are miles away. 'What are Minds For' starts out the CD with a clean, bluesy guitar playing a smooth, melodic, rhythmic lead. Aaron sings about taking magic mushrooms and questioning existence and emotions while Sean fills in the harmonies and even plays a jazzy little piano riff during the bridge! 'Here and Now' is more upbeat with a very modern, Jack Johnson-like rhythm guitar part. The song expresses the ups and downs and indecision that we all surely experience in our personal relationships. Lost a Friend, the 3rd track on the CD combines electric and acoustic guitars to create a very serene feeling. Sean takes the lead on this one, and with Aaron filling in harmonies and the chorus it achieves a perfect representation of the lyrics which speak to the beauty and regret of a lost love. Curtis really goes off on the drums for the instrumental of this track which really helps to express the frustrating joy of the experience. Track 4, Miss Mary Jane is a relaxing Incubus-ish, herbally inspired love song with a hint of Reggae that is sure to be loved by smokers and non-smokers alike. Paper and Pen is a jazzy song that inspires a care-free feeling and reminds me of sitting on the beach watching the waves roll in. The last track, Rewind, is already a favorite. This upbeat song has an extremely catch chorus with intricate verses delivered in a hip-hop style that really sums up the groups positive and fun-loving presence. In a way it seems to celebrate the bands accomplishments while leaving the listener wanting more (and don't worry, there will be more to come after this!).
