Devil Said Maybe.
Devil Said Maybe is an independent, San Francisco based band, which have recently released their self-titled debut EP. Comprised of drummer Josh Levine and brothers Ben (guitar/vocals/song-writer) and Nick Brown (bass). The brothers who after a childhood of frequent relocations due to their father's military orders started playing music together seriously when Ben moved in with Nick in Berkeley, CA. After another move into San Francisco the duo played gigs as 'The Brown Brothers' before being introduced to Josh through a mutual friend. Levine's textured percussion evolved through the experience with several bands during his time in Santa Barbara and was a much needed addition. The group quickly took the name Devil Said Maybe and have been rigorously playing and writing ever since. A raw acoustic sound with influences ranging from early Delta Blues, Rock 'n' Roll of the 60's, to the song of the recent days. Their music has a poignant subtlety, but more times than not- the song is driven to a vengeful uplift. Whether it's the gentleness or the guttural animal growl of the vocals, the smooth strong backbone of the bass, or the intelligent reverberations of the drums and cymbals- most cannot say they have heard this music before, but some may say have felt it's essence.
