Looking for a City
A finely crafted album of 13 well written original songs in a variety of styles make up Dennis Michael Falls second album. The album starts off with the title track an upbeat rockabilly tune with some killer piano and sax work from Matt Joyner and Brad Spence. The album continues with 2 guitar based rockers featuring slide work on His name is Jesus. As it is in heaven- is a keyboard based pop-rock version of the Lord's prayer. The albums shifts gears with the authentic flavored Confederate Money -featuring fine mandolin, fiddle and banjo from the multi-talented Rick Marksberry. Salvation of the Lord- is a jazz flavored pop tune featuring lots of guitar. Ache in the heart is a thoughtful ballad with a slight country flavor and Running with the Devil- is a classic 70's rocker followed by Speak to my Heart - an upbeat pop number. Handwriting on the wall- is an acoustic based rocker with some fine sax work from Joyner about the current state of the USA. I just know is a hopeful acoustic rocker with a little ELP styled solo on the end. Cry for Jerusalem- is just that a moving instrumental mix of orchestra and wailing guitar. The album end with Not in a manger- not exactly a Christmas song but a very memorable and moving piece.
