I Live (MCD)
This MCD was produced and mixed in Germany by members of Project Pitchfork, labelmates of Deep Red at the time. The MCD contains 2 variations of the original track 'I Live' from Deep Red's debut album entitled 'The Awakening' and the original track, plus a re-mixed version of the European hit 'Red'. Both The Awakening and Darkwaters, the latest release from Deep Red are available now on CD Baby, distributed by Osiris Soundworks. Osiris Soundworks is making all Deep Red releases available at domestic prices instead of paying the high prices of import. Following is Deep Red's biograhy: Deep Red was formed in early 1996 in Miami (USA), mainly as a studio project, the brainchild of original members Dely Castro and Martha Arce. Before long, and through a set of bizarre circumstances, they were signed to Candyland Entertainment,a European record label founded by members of Project Pitchfork, a German Industrial band. This in itself was not surprising, as the band always had strong European influences. Word of mouth about the group and it's distinctive sound began spreading, leading to their participation on a slew of compilations, including 'The Goth Box', 'Through a Looking Glass'(a tribute to Siouxie and The Banshees)', 'Strange Love', 'Nights Of Darkness', etc. Their first album, 'The Awakening', was released in September 1996, followed by the CD single 'I Live', that contained several remixes by label mates Project Pitchfork. The album prominently showcased intricate rhythm loops, sometimes tribal, sometimes euro, blending memorable melodies and meaningful lyrics, a mix of aural and visual references that had been influential to the band up to that point, collecting rave reviews on both sides of the Atlantic. In 1997, the band was again busy as the opening act for Project Pitchfork's European Tour. At this point, extra musicians were needed to recreate Deep Red's multilayered sound on stage, and Mario Soto a long time friend of Castro, became a permanent member of the band prior to the tour, due to his talents as drummer, vocalist, guitarrist and keyboard player. Since then, the band has been busy reshaping their sound, mixing sometimes disparate ingredients to achieve their musical vision, but still had enough free time to contribute one track to 'The Carnival Within' (A tribute to Dead Can Dance ) in 1998, where Mario lends his vocal talents to. Deep Red created Osiris Soundworks as their own label and distributor for their current and future release. Dely has also been busy producing and remixing for other artists at Deep Red studios, the latest being Open Canvas, an ambient act on Waveform records, and Divine Love Mission, and up and coming Electro/Goth group out of Ft. Lauderdale, Fl., while Mario has been working with other local artists in developing their vocal and musical aptitudes, besides handling the business affairs of Deep Red/Osiris Soundworks. Martha has been working on a solo project, called Distorted Realities.
