Bound to Rise
Singer-Songwriter, Debra Griner, mixes guitar-driven '70s AM Folk songwriter sounds with a Pop/Country feel to showcase her sweet, no- nonsense singing and original songs. The lean sunny blonde has a distinctive, unvarnished writer's voice that is like the talk of a true friend who's caring but flat-out honest. She's influenced by contemporaries like John Mayer and Iris Dement and trailblazers like Joni Mitchell and James Taylor. Debra's first Indie release, BOUND TO RISE, offers 11 self-penned songs, produced by Danny O'Bannon at Shell Creek Studios, Punta Gorda, Florida and engineered by JD Shuff at First Avenue Sound in Nashville. Griner has won audiences in New York City listening rooms, coffee houses and street fairs. She appeared at Kentucky's premier bluegrass festival, ROMP, with the bluegrass band, "American Flyer" and on Dennis Da Costa's Good the Last Drop Coffeehouse for PCTV (Pleasantville, NY). Griner grew up in Little Ferry, New Jersey and, like Springsteen and Bon Jovi, is proud of her New Jersey roots. She owes her musicality to her father, an avid record collector who sang and played guitar, banjo, harmonica, organ and accordion. She thanks her mom's brothers in Louisiana, also musicians, who held a family jam session every time she came to visit! With the release of her first album, Debra proves that she is truly BOUND TO RISE.
