Livin' It Up
Dian Newell - Guitar, Vocals Judy Lungren - Fiddle, Vocals John Sylte - Fiddle, Banjo, Harmonica, Concertina, Vocals As a group, we owe a huge debt of gratitude to the musicians that came before us. Generations of fiddlers have passed tunes from parent to child in a river of music that runs back through the centuries. Since the advent of recording technology, these traditional tunes have been captured and shared. A very special thanks to the following musicians for their fertile recordings: Tommy Jarrell, Ed Haley, John Salyer, Wade Ward, Kenner Karshner, and John Ashby, just to name a few. We get living inspiration from a long list of contemporary musicians. For sharing their music with the free world we would also like to thank Tom Sauber, Brad Leftwich, Bruce Molsky, Brittany Haas, Dirk Powell, Rayna Gellert, Geoff Seitz, Mark Graham, Rafe Stefanini, Ruthie Dornfeld, and the Foghorn Boys. Judy would like to especially thank Bill Sevores and Mike Williams of Montana for playing an influential role in her earlier fiddling years. The three of us came to our love of music through different routes. Our individual journeys were filled with the music of our predecessors and contemporaries. We've sat in small and large circles with one another around campfires, at festivals and in living rooms and kitchens from Alaska to Kentucky, North Carolina to Idaho, and California to Ireland. We are thankful that our paths converged, and for the musicians that paved the way before us. They have all influenced the way we sound.
