Introduction to Meditation
What is meditation and why practice it? Meditation is about being present in the moment. Experiencing the breath as it moves in and out of the body. Just a few minutes of meditation each day will help you to cultivate a positive mental attitude that will help carry you through everyday life. As well as the many mental benefits you can receive through meditation may also find there can be some physical benefits too that could include: lower blood pressure; reduced stress levels as meditation helps to reverse the fight and flight response and calms down the nervous system; and deeper breathing as your lung capacity begins to increase with your meditation training. On this recording you will find some practical advice on getting started and a range of techniques designed to give you an insight in to some of the basic methods of meditation. About Dawn Hart Dawn has been meditating for a number of years and draws her experience from several traditions including Reiki, Yoga and Buddhism. She is a therapist, and founder of Amitayus Wellbeing a dedicated centre for complementary therapy in the UK where she also teaches meditation. Her relaxing and soft English accent is ideal to help guide you through your first steps in meditating.
