Back to Them Hills
Straightforward, honest songwriting and storytelling, Back to Them Hills is a powerful collection of original material by Washington, D.C. area musician David Scott Weaver. The eleven tracks take the listener from a catchy rock number about days gone by to an old-time Gospel tune about getting by with a little help from above. Along the way are songs about growing up, growing old and the final forty miles on the road to Galveston. Produced by Mary Chapin Carpenter's longtime music collaborator and producer, John Jennings, this album's collection of songs is both heartfelt and powerful. GRAMMY-award winners Cathy Fink and Marcy Marxer join Emmy Lou Harris fiddler Rickie Simpkins to lend some country soul to several of the tracks, while Jennings masterfully layers guitar, keyboard and harmony vocals throughout. Country-influenced acoustic music with a Little Rock, gospel and mountain soul all mixed together.
