Life Along the Way
Guitarist and songwriter David E. Allen's debut solo album, Life Along The Way, features his well-honed skills as a guitarist and his gifts as a composer. David showcases twelve original songs forging jazz roots with a genuine love for Jesus Christ in this beautiful CD. The result is a new sound - glorifying the Lord with lyrical songs of an abundant life and lifting the spirit with soaring instrumentals that flow with improvisation and interplay. A native of Pittsburgh, David's affinity for music began with his mother's love for jazz and bossa nova. In a house filled with music, David picked up the guitar and piano, and fell in love with the melodic styles of guitarists such as Wes Montgomery and Pat Metheny. David was also writing his own music while gaining skills on multiple instruments. In college, at Brown University, David continued his musical path as a soloist, bandleader and musical director for university events. After an MBA at Washington University in St. Louis, David moved to Portland, Oregon where he teamed up with the Northwest's top contemporary jazz and gospel group, N-Touch. David performed throughout the West Coast, opening for Earth, Wind & Fire, Boney James, Tower of Power, and Angelique Kidjo. David also appeared with N-Touch on BET Jazz with Mike Phillips and in festivals featuring Arturo Sandoval, Kirk Franklin, Bobby Caldwell, and Stephen Curtis Chapman. David co-wrote several songs on N-Touch's debut album, N-Touch, which received strong reviews and radio play on the east and west coast, Canada, and XM radio. Now residing in Massachusetts, David has fused together a unique blend of jazz and inspirational Christian/Gospel music to bring glory and honor to the Lord Jesus Christ! His compositions take the listener on a wonderful journey, shining a light on God's goodness and love! ...for there is no greater calling for music!
