The Date's new E.P. 'Rob Bury' will be released with a show case gig at the Fly By Night on Saturday the 29th of October, 2011. The E.P. was recorded at W.A.S.P. Studios (formally Gerico Studio's in Perth, Western Australia). Engineered by Derek Fernandez who has previously recorded some of Perths more notable exports (including The Chevelles, Dr Preposterous and Full). The E.P. was mastered at Benchmark Mastering in Sydney by Don Bartlett (who has mastered Paul Kelly, INXS, The Church). The 4 songs on the E.P. are solid rocking blues, stong on guitar and lyrically to the point. 'Rob Bury' focuses on what it is like to opnly have so much and wish for so much more...and how do you get that if all you can do is a 9.00 - 5.00 job in the city. 'Walking In My Life' is dedicated to those woman who know what they are and where they're going and always remember that they are the important part of the equation. 'Driver To You' is an ode to those who deliver the drinks...after all, if you can't get to the drinks then you have to have a way of getting those drinks to you. 'Do It, To It' is all about grabbing life with both hands and making the most of what it gives you for as long as it's giving. This is the second release by the current three peice line-up of The Date. The first single, 'MPD To Me' was well received and stands as a strong and relevant song aimed at the fabulous Pole Dances from Australia who are currenlty the world champions of this fast up and coming sport. There will be an album release in the first half of 2012 and already the band are working on the pre-production of their next album having now completed the initial round of song writing. Strong music, stong lyrics, good times and always on song. The Date.
