Sacrificial Band, the latest installment in the Dan Barbeau growing catalog, is a departure from the alternative country and pop music featured on previous discs. "I thought I was making a rock album," said Barbeau on the eve of it's release. "There's some disagreement over that." Those fans used to the serious subjects and sometimes somber laments of love lost and found, then lost again should enjoy the 11 new songs ably telling this old story in new ways. This is a rock'n'roll album about heart, faith, love and the ease with which we discount them. Guitarist Stan Fairbank, (of 'My Sin' fame,) San Francisco guitarist Shawn Bulen, Solano County drummer Aaron O'Connell and upright bass player Chris Blaney of Swamp City Rebels truly bring the rock, while Barbeau lays his lyrics on your brain like eggs. They'll incubate, no lie, you'll catch yourself singing.
