Dreaming of Another Path
We write songs inspired by dreams and about the places and people in our lives. This recording project is laid out as a tour of the people and places in a small town that has mostly faded from view. We start at the General Store, move on to a woman trying to find herself and her place, a fellow who had wandered the world but came back home, and wished he hadn't. Then on to an old cabin on a hilltop that's rarely visited, a street singer on main street with ideas about how we all got here, the memory of a grandmother who did it all, and a spiritual walk in time between a son and his dying father. Transitioning via an instrumental piece about the highway that winds past and bypasses the town, we arrive at a frustrated blues singer, then on to the chapel with a universal hymn. The music hall down main street is happy that it's in use again. A couple sings a love song on it's steps. Down the street, we encounter a prayer for peace. Finally, a long-haul trucker who drives back and forth every day dreams about another path for his life.
